Privacy Policy

Summary

Your content stays in your own account. We have no access to it. The extension runs entirely in your browser. Moonfire operates no servers that receive your chats, images, files or Google Drive data. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind, and we never sell data.

Chats and media are read from ChatGPT or Grok only when you ask (for example, to export or download), using the account you are already signed in to.
Results are saved to your computer and, if you turn on Google Drive backup, to a folder in your own Google Drive.
If you buy Pro, our payment provider (Dodo Payments) processes your payment and issues your license key.

Who we are

This policy covers the Chrome extension "Moonfire Extensions - AI Chat Exporter and Cleaner" (the "Extension") and this website (the "Site"), both operated by Moonfire Private Limited, a company registered in India ("Moonfire", "we", "us"). For data protection purposes we are the controller of the limited personal data described below.

Information the Extension processes

Chats, images, videos and files

When you use a feature (export a chat, download your image library, manage or clean up chats), the Extension reads the relevant conversations and media from chatgpt.com or grok.com (and their file servers) through your existing signed-in session. It converts them in your browser and saves the results to your Downloads folder. This content is never sent to Moonfire or any third party. It goes only to your computer and, if enabled, your Google Drive.

The Extension runs only on ChatGPT and Grok pages, where it adds an export button. It does not read your browsing history or any other website.

Archiving and deleting chats

When you choose to archive, trash or delete chats or files, the Extension sends the same request that the site's own menu sends, on your behalf. It does this only for the items you select, and by default only after their backup has finished downloading.

Data stored on your device

The Extension keeps the following in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage) on your device:

your settings and preferences;
your plan and Pro license key (if you have one);
daily usage counters for the Free plan's allowance;
a record of files already downloaded, so "only new files" can skip them;
if Google Drive is connected: the connected Google account's email address and name, the IDs of the folders the Extension created, and backup counts.

This data stays on your device. It is not sent to us. Uninstalling the Extension deletes it.

Google Drive backup

Google Drive backup is optional and available on Pro. If you connect it:

Permission requested: only https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. This lets the Extension create files and folders in your Drive and manage only the files it created. It cannot see, open or change any other file in your Drive.
What it does: it creates a folder named "Moonfire AI Chat Exporter" in your My Drive and uploads a copy of each file you save with the Extension (and a small test file if you press "Send a test file").
Account details: it reads your Google account's email address and display name, only to show you which account is connected.
Direct upload: files go directly from your browser to Google's servers. Your Google sign-in token is managed by Chrome and is never sent to Moonfire.
Disconnecting: "Disconnect" in the Extension's settings revokes the access token. Files already backed up stay in your Drive, because they are yours. You can also remove access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Google API Limited Use. Moonfire Extensions - AI Chat Exporter and Cleaner's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, do not sell it, do not use it to train AI models, and no person at Moonfire reads it.

Purchases and licenses

Pro plans are sold through Dodo Payments, which acts as our Merchant of Record and reseller. Dodo Payments collects and processes your name, email address, billing address, payment details and tax information under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your full card number.

From Dodo Payments we receive your name, email address, country, the plan you bought, order and subscription identifiers, your license key and its status. We use this to deliver and support your license, handle refunds and cancellations, prevent fraud and keep the records the law requires.

License checks: when you activate Pro, the Extension sends your license key and a label for the browser (such as "Chrome on Windows") to Dodo Payments' license service to confirm the key is valid and count activations (up to 3 browsers). It re-checks about once every 7 days. No chat content, file or browsing data is ever included.

This website

The Site is a static website hosted by Hostinger. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or third-party tracking scripts. Like all web hosts, Hostinger may record standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) for security and to keep the service running.

When you contact us

If you email us, we use your email address and the content of your message to reply and help you. We keep this correspondence only as long as needed to resolve your request and meet legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We share it only:

with Dodo Payments, to process purchases, subscriptions, refunds and licenses;
with Google, only when you connect Google Drive, and only within your own Google account;
with Hostinger, which hosts this Site and our email;
when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, the public or Moonfire.

Retention

Data stored by the Extension stays on your device until you clear it or uninstall the Extension. Purchase and license records are kept for as long as your license is active and afterwards for the period required by tax and accounting laws (typically up to 8 years). Support emails are kept only as long as needed.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority. We do not sell or "share" personal information as defined by California law.

To exercise any right, email info@moonfiregroup.com. We will respond within 30 days. Most of your data never leaves your device, so you can also delete it yourself by uninstalling the Extension and disconnecting Google Drive.

Security

The Extension keeps your content local and talks only to ChatGPT, Grok, Google and our payment provider over encrypted HTTPS connections. It requests only the browser permissions it needs to work. No method of storage or transfer is perfectly secure, but we design the Extension so that your content never has to pass through us at all.

Children

The Extension and Site are not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age for digital consent where they live. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

We are based in India. Our service providers (Dodo Payments, Google, Hostinger) may process data in other countries. Where required, they use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.

Chrome Web Store disclosure

The use of information received through the Extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. User data is used only to provide the Extension's single purpose (exporting, backing up and cleaning up your AI chats) and is not transferred, sold or used for any unrelated purpose.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Extension changes. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and for material changes we will give notice in the Extension or by email to Pro customers.
